Why?
In a country where Dairy is a major industry, I have to ask, "why does Cheese cost $17.00 a kilo?" And in country where dairy farmers are recieving over a million dollar payout yearly from Fontera, "why does butter cost $4.00 a brick?" When I moved here a little over two years ago, a block of butter cost 99 cents, and cheese was maybe 8 bucks a kilo. Times are changing, that is for sure, and I want to know why? Someone please explain!

totally - all I know is, my cooking is evolving. Though I don't know a kid who doesn't love cheese. Oops. Matt is the one person I know. ???? Last year when we were sticking to a budget happened to be right when the prices went crazy - I would be at the check out almost depressed at how little was in my trolley for how much I spent. Anyway. Meanwhile we are eating heaps of self sprouted fruit and vegies. Amazing. Hopefully going to see you soon! Miss you guys xxxx
Hey, I totally agree, it's outragous! Our eating has become very simple. I heard something about the milk (dairy) prices a little while back saying something about how America was short on dairy (probably due to some weather issues or something) and as a result, a lot of NZ's dairy was going to America, where they would pay cheaper prices on it than we are paying here at the source! So, because so much of it is going, the demand is greater here so it costs more! Absolutely crazy!
