I think we were supposed to go....

In my last blog, I told you guys that we had some adventures in Christchurch. Well, here is one of them.....

When we landed in Christchurch, we met up with some friends and they took us to pick up our friends car. Our friend, Rexy, is awesome, and let us drive his car around while he was in Western Australia. However there was a little catch. We had to take the car to get a Warrant of Fitness before we left the Christchurch, as it was going to expire during our week of driving around the South Island. Rexy's car is pretty nice, so we thought it would be as easy to get the warrant. We maid an appointment, dropped Steph and I at the grocery store to buy food for the week, and let Josh take the car in for the test.

We were isle 11 when Josh called. The car failed the test......meaning it would be banned from the road. Apparently the brake pads were completely worn down and it was not safe for a road trip. Especially not on the winding, hilly roads of the South Island. In that moment I found myself faced with a choice....keep shopping in faith that we would still go, or put everything back on the shelves and figure out how to kill a week in Christchurch as our tickets were nonrefundable and unchangeable. I chose to keep shopping.

Now it was 2:00 pm on a Saturday afternoon...and almost everything closes down at noon for the rest of the weekend. Josh said there was one place the guy at the Warrant of Fitness place told him about, and he was going to try to see if he could get an "emergency brake pad change". Ten minutes later, when we were in picking out our frozen veggies, Josh called again. The mechanic was going to squeeze it in right now....even though he had 4 other cars to work in line. Not only that, but he left his shop to go and purchase the brake pads for us, and only charged us 100 dollars. It was unbelievable! Now all we needed was the Warrant of Fitness.

Steph and I finished our shopping, headed to Subway to grab a late lunch for the drive to Aurthur's Pass, and then began walking with all our groceries toward the Warrant of Fitness place. As soon as we reached the parking lot, Josh called (because he did not see us 40 feet away from him)...the car has passed THE TEST and we were ready to roll!!!!

Crazy huh, I think God really wanted us to go to. It was amazing how it all worked out.
